Lot 113 Central Pacific Railroad Topo Map CA - , - 1871 - Railroadiana
Beautiful 27" x33" framed and mounted preliminary topographical map of explorations and surveys in Nevada and Arizona, south of the Central Pacific Railroad. The map covers the terrain from Humboldt and Elko Counties (NV) to the north, San Bernardino (CA) to the west, down to Maricopa County (AZ) to the south. The map was commissioned by the War Department, in cooperation with the Army Corp of Engineers, Brig. General A.A. Humphreys, Chief of Engineers. It was conducted under the Immediate direction of 1st Lieutenant Geo. M. Wheeler, during the fall of 1871. Besides the topographical characteristics of the landscape, the map shows the various mining districts scattered throughout the area. The piece has some crease folds, but is in very good condition, sharp, readable, and a nice display piece. - Woodward Collection
